Getting a Grasp
A great tool to determine what the site will look like to the user is to brainstorm at a whiteboard with all members on the team. Its great place to get everybody's opinion out on the table, therefore great ideas can be flushed out.
In our case we took all the "use cases" that were developed by the engineering team, and then organize them from the user's perspective. Because we used a whiteboard with "Post It" notes it made it very easy try out all ideas.
